I have a question concerning the adjustment of an older dog to a puppy

I have a question concerning the adjustment of an older dog to a puppy. I have had my Boston Terrier puppy for about a week, and am very concerned about my 2-year-old Boston's treatment of her. She is a very mild-mannered dog who is so excited about her new little sister that she goes wild with enthusiasm. She pushes her and jumps on her in an attempt to play. Our feisty little puppy wants to play too, but soon becomes overwhelmed and begins to snarl, bite, and chase. After a short itme she comes to me for protection. Any ideas on how I can get my older dog to calm down and develop a more peaceful relationship with the puppy?
